Day Camp is a program of fun and excitement within a Christian environment for children in years 1 to 6. Day Camp is a time of discovery and adventure in a bushland setting. It is the fun of activities, bush walks, craft, games, and the thrill of cooking your own food over a campfire. It runs in the first week of the June/July school holidays.
How does Day Camp work?
Running Tuesday 27 June to Friday 30 June at 9 am each day and finishing at 3 pm. Parents must sign their children in each morning (from 8:30am) and sign them out in upon pickup. This means the children experience the fun of a typical camp yet the security of sleeping in their own homes at night.
Theme
Each day we will be looking at who Jesus is. With the help of people in the Bible we will learn how Jesus can help us in every day life.
What about safety?
Campers are assigned to a small group for the duration of the camp. Each group is supervised by at least one leader and an assistant leader. The Day Camp directors and adult helpers support the work of the small group leaders. All leaders work together to ensure maximum safety and enjoyment for all the campers.
Measures are made to ensure the health and safety of all Day Campers, and volunteers. Hand hygiene stations will be located at all activities. This year we will not cook lunches or damper over the team fire. We ask that parents/carers provide a prepared lunch for the day, such as sandwiches as you would for school. Each day the teams participate in campfire cooking, they will be supervised throughout the activity to maintain safety for all.
Parents are also welcome to stay and help, please send us an email and let us know when you are available. All visitors to the site are required to sign in for the children’s safety.
Bremer Brisbane Presbytery Uniting Churches are committed to Safe Ministry with Children, with all volunteers trained appropriately.
Activities?
This year we have organised – Daily bible stories, craft, bush walks, team games, jumping castles, rock climbing and campfire cooking.
Cost?
The cost for the four days for 2023 is $150 per child for Day Camper. This cost covers all materials and activities for the four days.
We do not offer part participation. It is recommended children attend every day to get the most out of the week.
Location
Day camp location is at Corinda Pony Club.
What to bring?
- Your lunch each day (no food that requires cooking)
- Drink bottle
- A hat
- Closed shoes (no sandals or thongs)
- A raincoat if it looks like rain.
It is advisable for children to wear 30+ sunscreen and hard wearing clothes that are allowed to get dirty. Remember it is a day in the bush. Please name all items clearly.
What if it rains?
Unless there is torrential rain all night/day, we will proceed at the Pony Club grounds. There are plenty of shade areas for some shelter. In the case of torrential rain we will run an adapted program at Centenary Uniting Church. An email will be sent to you with details if this happens.
Leaders and Adult Volunteer information & registration
If you are in grade 9 or older, you’re eligible to register as a leader. If you have been on Day Camp before you know how much fun the week is. If not, don’t worry we will train you and match you with a more experienced team leader for the week.
Training!
Group Leaders: Training will be provided on Monday 26 June, 9am-12pm at the Pony Club grounds.
Adult Volunteers: If you are over the age of 18 years we require you to have completed the Uniting Church Safe Ministry with Children training or refresher course before Day Camp and submit your signed document to Jo Reynoldson. A training night will be organized for those needing to complete this training. We also ask you to attend a briefing session on Monday June 26, 12-1 pm at the Pony Club grounds. This is when we’ll run through the program for the week, identify any potential challenges and a time for you to ask any questions you have.
Cost?
There is no cost to be a volunteer.
Days & jobs for Adult volunteers?
There are roles available for everyone’s skills and abilities.

- A raincoat if it looks like rain.
Remember, it is a day in the bush so keep your best threads at home safe and clean. Oh and please name all items clearly; the lost property parade can be sooo embarrassing.
